How do I join the Housing Register?

You need to complete an online application form.

What happens after I’ve applied?

After you have completed an application form your council’s Homemove Team will assess your housing need. If you are eligible for social housing you will be placed in a priority band according to your level of need. You will then be sent a welcome email with your registration details including: priority band and date and type and size of home you are eligible to bid for.  You will also be sent your User ID.

How is my application assessed?

Your housing need is assessed according to the rules set out in each council’s Allocation Scheme.  Further details can be found at:

Adur & Worthing

Mid Sussex

We will check your eligibility and you will be asked to provide any additional information and verification documents so we can assess your application. Once all this information has been assessed we will confirm the outcome of your application.

How do I log in?

You will be provided with a link to log in for the first time.  You will need to enter your Sussex Homemove User ID and your date of birth.  You will then be asked to create a password.

Once in your account, you can bid for properties, add documents to your applications and complete a change of circumstances form.

If you need to reset your password there will be an option in the login screen to make this change.

What if my circumstances change?

You must tell your council of any circumstances that may affect your housing application.  It is a criminal offence to give false information or withhold information relevant to your housing application. A change of circumstances form can be completed on this website (insert link).  Depending on the change your application may be suspended whilst it is reassessed and you may not be able to bid for properties.

How long will it be before I am housed?

We are not able to give you a timescale due to the demand on social housing far outweighing supply. It is therefore important that you also look at other options to provide you with a home such as private renting.  In order to maximise your chances of making a successful bid please be flexible with your areas of preference and property types.  Bid regularly to increase your chances.

What does the 'View Date' mean on a property?

The View Date is when the property will be empty from.  When the property is empty those who are nominated for it will be invited to view it. The viewing of the property can take place any time after the view date. There is no need for you to contact your local authority regarding the view date. Rather, they will contact you with a convenient view date.
